January 23, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. Chinese New Year is an important holiday in the Chinese culture. This festive holiday is all focus on bringing good luck for the New Year and celebrating the coming of spring. It is celebrated in countries such as Canada and China and is also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year. According to the lunar calendar, it marks the first day of the New Year.

Each Chinese New Year celebration is associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. The signs in the Chinese zodiac are similar to the ones in the western zodiac which also have twelve signs. The difference between the two is that Chinese astrology follows the cycles of the moon and based on the lunar cycle it takes twelve years to complete the cycle. Your zodiac sign is based on the year you were born. Western astrology follows the cycles of the sun and is based on a twelve month cycle. Your zodiac sign is based on the month you were born.
